Launch Excellence Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Onsite at the assigned launch plant in Warren, Michigan, United States; the primary site may change based on launch requirements. Requires 80% or more travel to support active launch programs.

What you will do

• Drive manufacturing launch performance from launch through post-SORP stabilization, targeting on-time delivery and improved MCBF, throughput, and cycle-time performance.
• Track launch metrics, SAGT glide paths, PTPM&C functionality, purchased station cycle times, downtime, quality, scrap, and FTQ across programs and sites.
• Use Power BI, Databricks, PTPM&C, Q-DAS, and related analytics tools to build dashboards and prioritize operational issues.
• Lead TIP reviews, assign cross-functional owners, coordinate root-cause analysis, and drive sustainable issue closure with Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, plant launch teams, Virtual Manufacturing, and OEM partners.
• Improve manufacturing systems and standardized work across casting, fabrication, machining, assembly, and test processes.
• Develop AI-enabled systems for throughput data collection, analysis, and actionable manufacturing insights while training operations teams to sustain improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Controls, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience leading cross-functional problem solving in a manufacturing or plant environment.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing systems, plant processes, continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, and sustainable resolution.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and influencing skills, including the ability to work without direct authority.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle regularly; a company vehicle is provided after a successful Motor Vehicle Report review.
• Immigration sponsorship is not available, including H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or other company-supported work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience with machining, launch engineering, manufacturing operations, plant performance improvement, or Theory of Constraints.
• Experience with Power BI, Databricks, PTPM&C, Q-DAS, Python, SQL, large datasets, or manufacturing analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with AI applications, virtual manufacturing, equipment troubleshooting, and complex process or throughput issues.
