Workday Financial Systems Architect (Workday Financials)

Location: Remote from Germany, with Berlin as the primary location

What you will do

• Own the Workday Financials tenant, including configuration, business processes, security, and the financial data model.
• Take over the tenant from the implementation partner, document and harden the implementation, and bring operational responsibility in-house.
• Design and build Workday-side integrations using EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio integrations, web services, and RaaS reports.
• Advise Finance and Accounting on system design, process ownership, and the appropriate solution across the business systems landscape.
• Run Workday as a production system through Tier 2/3 support, root-cause fixes, testing, releases, and configuration documentation.
• Build reports, dashboards, calculated fields, and future expansions covering HCM, treasury, VAT reporting, and global payroll.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on Workday Financials experience, including a full implementation and post-go-live tenant ownership.
• Expertise in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking & Settlement, business processes, configurable security, FDM, and worktags.
• Experience with custom and matrix reports, calculated fields, and BIRT.
• Knowledge of accounting processes including chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations, and audit requirements.
• Experience connecting SaaS systems through APIs and integration patterns, with structured troubleshooting, testing, and documentation practices.
• Excellent English required for communication with engineers, Finance, and Accounting stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, web services, RaaS, and XSLT.
• German proficiency and Workday Pro certification in Financials or Integrations.
• Multi-entity, multi-currency, multi-GAAP, tax, or e-invoicing experience, including Avalara.
• Experience with Accounting Center, Prism Analytics, Extend, Orchestrate, Workday consulting, or a Workday CoE.
• Formal accounting qualifications or experience with internal controls and SOX in a Workday environment.
