Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

Location: Menlo Park, California or New York, New York; in-person attendance required at least 3 days per week

Base pay: $196,000–$230,000 USD annually for Zone 1 locations; additional bonus, equity, and benefits may apply.

What you will do

• Build and evolve scalable backend systems with strong performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design, implement, test, and release product-facing features with strict correctness and availability requirements.
• Define and refine REST APIs with frontend and data engineering partners for millions of customers.
• Lead technically complex projects from system design through execution.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.
• Improve system performance, developer productivity, and operational risk.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of experience building low-latency, large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience designing and operating highly concurrent systems and structured REST APIs.
• Ownership of large projects with sustained impact on a system or team.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to solve complex problems with practical, high-quality solutions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.
