Director, Security Research (AI Security)

What you will do

• Lead the Threat Research Team and own its research agenda, detection content roadmap, budget, and delivery decisions.
• Build an AI security research capability covering model and agent abuse, tool misuse, prompt-layer attacks, the AI supply chain, and AI-serving infrastructure.
• Lead a small team of researchers and engineers while remaining hands-on with coding, tooling, attack reproduction, and analysis.
• Own the managed ruleset, cloud and identity detections, detection platform, adversarial validation, and detection quality.
• Publish original research through discoveries, CVEs, named campaigns, conference talks, and open-source contributions.
• Partner with Marketing, Product Engineering, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success to turn research into content, product direction, threat briefings, and customer capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in security research, threat research, or detection engineering, including 4+ years leading and developing researchers.
• Experience owning a research agenda, outcomes, and budget, including building a research capability from the ground up.
• Original AI security research or shipped detections involving adversarial ML, agentic and tool-abuse attack paths, prompt-layer attacks, model supply chains, or AI-serving infrastructure.
• Hands-on programming, tooling, research, and analysis experience with Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud internals at syscall and control-plane level.
• Public work such as original discoveries, CVEs, named campaigns, conference talks, or open-source security tooling, plus experience with capable adversaries and attribution.
• Experience owning detection content for real users and working with frameworks such as MITRE ATLAS, the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, or NIST AI RMF.
