Principal Scientist, Applied AI, Immune Pathway Discovery (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Spring House, Pennsylvania; La Jolla, California; Cambridge, Massachusetts; or other listed U.S. locations

Salary: $115,000–$227,000 base pay annually. A separate pay range of $117,000–$201,250 is also listed.

What you will do

• Design, build, align, and execute AI prototype plans for scientific use cases.
• Develop and evaluate agentic workflows, scientific copilots, retrieval-augmented applications, and AI-assisted analytical tools.
• Translate complex scientific needs into user requirements, product hypotheses, success criteria, and implementation plans.
• Partner with scientists and end users to understand workflows, gather feedback, and improve solutions iteratively.
• Evaluate accuracy, reliability, usability, reproducibility, and scientific or business impact.
• Work with AI, data science, engineering, platform, architecture, security, and governance teams to scale validated prototypes.

Requirements

• PhD in artificial intelligence, computational science, computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, engineering, physics, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant industry or applied research experience using computational methods.
• Experience building AI or machine learning solutions, prototypes, or research software in R or Python.
• Practical experience with generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, AI-assisted coding, or related technologies.
• Experience integrating data sources, scientific tools, models, APIs, MCPs, or computational workflows while meeting data governance, security, privacy, and intellectual property requirements.
• Strong interdisciplinary communication, scientific rigor, troubleshooting, planning, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, healthcare, or another regulated scientific environment.
• Knowledge of drug discovery, immunology, molecular biology, translational research, or high-dimensional biomedical data.
• Experience with cloud computing, containers, version control, model evaluation, observability, and secure deployment.
• Experience moving prototypes toward production and applying product-oriented practices such as user discovery, iterative design, adoption measurement, and value realization.
