TL;DR
Freelance Language Specialists (Nuclear) (translation and editing): Translating, revising, editing, and summarizing administrative, legal, scientific, and technical documents for the IAEA with an accent on nuclear technology, terminology, and multilingual quality. Focus on researching specialized terminology, drafting official meeting records, and ensuring accurate, stylistically consistent content for Member States and Secretariat users.

Location: Remote and home-based; field assignment outside the regular hirify.global duty station

Company

The hirify.global coordinates language services that support the exchange of scientific and technical information among Member States.

What you will do

  • Translate and revise administrative, legal, economic, scientific, and technical texts related to nuclear technology, safety, security, safeguards, physics, and engineering.
  • Edit documents for accuracy, clarity, stylistic consistency, and terminology.
  • Draft official records and summary records of Policy-Making Organ meetings.
  • Research terminology and contribute to the central terminology database.
  • Perform additional linguistic duties as required.

Requirements

  • University degree in languages or a related field; degrees in other fields may also be considered.
  • Excellent oral and written command of one or more official UN languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Relevant experience translating, revising, editing, or drafting scientific and technical texts.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT translation tools, particularly Trados Studio and Multiterm.
  • Familiarity with the hirify.global and its operations is beneficial.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the nuclear field or in an international organization.
  • Knowledge of German or other languages.
