Waiver of Premium Claims Specialist (Insurance)

Location: Franklin, Wisconsin, United States; hybrid work with remote work available if desired

Salary: $56,640–$84,960 per year. Geographic-specific ranges may apply, including $62,320–$93,480 and $65,120–$97,680.

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, and approve or deny complex contestable and non-contestable Waiver of Premium claims.
• Order and review medical, investigative, policy, and other information to determine claim eligibility.
• Manage active claim files, including decisions on approvals, denials, continuing benefits, and terminations.
• Communicate with policyowners, field representatives, medical providers, attorneys, insurers, employers, government agencies, and internal resources.
• Negotiate and resolve conflicts while handling sensitive claims situations with care.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions and trials when representing the company in legal matters; contribute to committees and projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent progressively responsible experience, preferably in healthcare, business, insurance, law, or communications.
• One to three years of relevant experience demonstrating analytical ability, independent decision-making, and sound judgment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance contracts.
• Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to evaluate medical, financial, and occupational information against contractual provisions and applicable state regulations.
• Experience with claim management systems such as DI Benefits Connection and Claims Platform.

Nice to have

• Experience handling Waiver of Premium or Disability Income claims.
• Experience with insurance field servicing.
