Category Specialist - Strategic Sourcing (Manufacturing)

Location: Frederick, Maryland, United States. Office-based role with 10–20% travel.

Salary: $73,200–$117,800 per year.

What you will do

• Gather and manipulate spend, commodity, supplier, and market data.
• Develop category research, interpret trends, and identify opportunities for value capture.
• Support strategic sourcing initiatives and category management activities.
• Assist with and lead long-term agreement negotiations.
• Identify, assess, and communicate supply chain risks, pricing, and total cost of ownership.
• Use project management and influencing skills to coordinate programs from concept through launch.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in supply chain management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of data analytics tools, suppliers, supply markets, and supplier relationship management.
• Ability to understand engineering technical drawings, taxonomy, and technical grammar.
• Strong communication, organization, time-management, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work in a changing, fast-paced team environment and manage competing requirements.
• Ability to travel 10–20%.

Nice to have

• Purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other web-based applications.
