Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, with office locations in London, Cambridge, and Leeds; office attendance is expected at least twice per month.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and optimise the AWS cloud platform, including AWS Organisations and Landing Zones.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and reusable platform components to automate deployments and reduce manual effort.
• Develop and enforce cloud governance covering security, cost management, compliance, tagging, and multi-account environments.
• Create Engineering Golden Path templates and support cloud adoption and self-service delivery across the engineering community.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot platform issues, and improve resilience, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of commercial experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar DevOps role.
• At least 2 years of commercial experience with AWS and Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially GitLab CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
• Proficiency in Python scripting and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Understanding of cloud governance, security, cost optimisation, and multi-account AWS environments.

Nice to have

• AWS, Terraform, or automation certifications.
• Experience in a Cloud Centre of Excellence environment.
• Experience enabling or mentoring application teams in cloud best practices.
• A Computer Science or relevant Engineering degree, particularly as a recent graduate.
