Cloud Platform Engineer (Azure)

Location: Hybrid or remote within the United Kingdom, subject to locality to an office; attendance at the Hartlepool office is required at least once a month. Candidates must have a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain Azure landing zones, subscription structures, baseline configurations, and shared platform services.
• Build cloud identity integrations, IAM policies, role-based access controls, and automated access workflows.
• Design and maintain cloud networking components, including VNets, routing, DNS, gateways, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity.
• Develop Terraform templates and modules and support CI/CD pipelines for consistent platform provisioning.
• Support platform operations, incident response, patching, upgrades, onboarding of cloud environments, and self-service tooling.
• Maintain documentation and runbooks while collaborating with Security, FinOps, and Platform Services teams.

Requirements

• Professional experience with Azure and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Understanding of cloud networking, identity, governance, tagging, policies, and cost controls.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and scripting using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering environments and working within ITIL frameworks.
• Intermediate or advanced cloud certification in AWS, Azure, or OCI, above Fundamentals level.
• Pre-existing UK right to work and travel is required; security clearance or eligibility to obtain Enhanced Security Clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Enterprise networking experience covering routing, firewalls, DNS, VPN, ExpressRoute, or Direct Connect.
• Windows Server, Active Directory, Unix/Linux administration, configuration management, and security hardening experience.
• Exposure to Kubernetes and container platforms such as AKS, EKS, GKE, OKE, or on-premises Kubernetes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools including Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ManageEngine, or SolarWinds.
