PhD Graduate Consultant (Physics)

Location: Melbourn, Royston, UK; on-site five days a week

What you will do

• Apply physics expertise to multidisciplinary technology and product development projects.
• Contribute across invention, technical analysis, prototype design, and transfer to manufacture.
• Support projects involving applications such as drug delivery devices, AI-enabled drug discovery, and 5G NTN antenna development.
• Build market understanding, engage directly with clients, present findings, and ensure requirements are understood and met.
• Develop collaborative relationships, represent the consultancy at UK and international conferences, and help build new client connections.
• Progress toward leading projects, building teams, and managing client relationships.

Requirements

• Physics degree with a minimum 2:1 and a PhD due to be completed within the next 6–12 months.
• Intellectual curiosity, inventiveness, and the ability to apply rigorous first-principles thinking.
• Commercial awareness, entrepreneurial drive, and interest in turning breakthrough technologies into real-world products and ventures.
• Proactive, self-starting approach with strong personal responsibility.
• Ability to collaborate, build trust, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex technical ideas clearly to varied audiences.
• Willingness to work on-site five days a week.
