Structural Analysis Intern (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning January, February, or March 2027

What you will do

• Support the Structural Analysis Team with detailed simulations and physics-based analysis.
• Contribute to vehicle design and analysis activities, including design validation and future improvements of space systems and components.
• Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real aerospace challenges.
• Work with a mentor and department colleagues to develop technical and professional skills.
• Provide progress updates through regular one-to-one meetings with mentors and supervisors.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in aerospace, aeronautical, astronautical, or mechanical engineering.
• Must have at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• At least 3 months of applied engineering experience through an internship, laboratory work, or personal/team projects.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States under applicable ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above.
• At least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, finite element analysis software, statics, or dynamics.
• Experience with Siemens NX.
