Cyber Security Engineer (Microsoft Security)

What you will do

• Own day-to-day security operations across Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Entra ID, Conditional Access, and Azure security capabilities.
• Lead vulnerability management, attack surface reduction, system hardening, cloud security posture improvement, and remediation of penetration-test findings.
• Automate security operations using scripting, playbooks, Logic Apps, APIs, and integrations.
• Manage the security tooling estate and coordinate with external security service providers.
• Lead security incidents from investigation and triage through containment, remediation, closure, and post-incident improvement.
• Own technical security controls for Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, regulatory requirements, supplier reviews, and security assurance.

Requirements

• At least five years of hands-on experience in cyber security engineering or security operations.
• Strong practical experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, KQL, analytic rules, workbooks, Entra ID, Conditional Access, Purview, Intune, email security, and endpoint detection and response.
• Experience automating security operations with scripting, playbooks, Logic Apps, APIs, or similar tools.
• Experience operating security controls across endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability management, identity and access management, data protection, cloud security, and system hardening.
• Practical knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
• Ability to lead incidents independently and communicate technical situations clearly to senior stakeholders, including the CEO.

• Microsoft security certifications such as SC-200, SC-300, SC-400, or AZ-500.
