TL;DR
Lead .NET Software Engineer (C#/.NET, AWS, AI): Shaping and delivering a core platform across microservices, APIs, event-driven services, BFFs, and selected frontend components with an accent on technical leadership, architecture, and AI-assisted engineering. Focus on designing scalable distributed systems, improving reliability and security, and governing AI agents and agent-enabled workflows.
Location: Hybrid role based at Jessop House, Cheltenham, United Kingdom

What you will do
- Provide technical leadership across software design, implementation, architecture, and delivery.
- Contribute hands-on to microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, BFFs, and selected frontend applications.
- Define engineering standards, patterns, architecture decisions, and maintainable solution designs.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, technical guidance, and problem-solving.
- Improve platform observability, reliability, performance, security, operational readiness, and CI/CD delivery.
- Embed AI-assisted development and support the design, operation, governance, and continuous improvement of AI agents and agent-enabled workflows.
Requirements
- Significant commercial software engineering experience with strong hands-on C# and .NET expertise.
- Experience designing production microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with BFF patterns, relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and maintainable object-oriented system design.
- Experience with technical architecture decisions, CI/CD pipelines, testing, code reviews, and software quality practices; Jenkins experience is strongly preferred.
- Meaningful hands-on experience with AI-assisted development, AI-first software development, and AI agents or LLM-powered engineering workflows.
- Ability to provide pragmatic technical direction, communicate with stakeholders and architects, and mentor engineers.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, EC2, Docker, infrastructure-as-code, and environment automation.
- Experience with messaging, event streaming, observability, and monitoring in distributed systems.
- Experience with Blazor and MudBlazor.
- Experience defining governance and operating models for AI agents or AI-enabled internal tools.
- Experience in a growing product or platform engineering environment.
