Industrial Safety Coordinator (Nuclear Safety)

Location: Mol, Belgium; on-site presence required for at least 5 of every 10 consecutive working days

hirify.global employs the successful candidate to support a client’s lead-cooled fast Small Modular Reactor project.

What you will do

• Contribute to the industrial safety project initiation document for the SMR conceptual design phase.
• Develop the industrial and environmental safety framework, approach, and preliminary CE self-declaration strategy.
• Lead, participate in, and plan HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, and other risk-analysis sessions.
• Review design documentation, codes, standards, and EU directives to support hazard minimization and compliance.
• Define safety-system requirements and prepare the Industrial Safety Philosophy, Hazard Mapping, and Hazard Inventory.
• Coordinate stakeholders and follow up on supporting studies required for risk analyses.

Requirements

• MSc in Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant industrial risk-analysis experience, including environmental aspects.
• Experience with complex or hazardous installations such as nuclear, energy, chemical or process plants, research facilities, or pilot plants.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards including IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849.
• Knowledge of EU directives and regulations, particularly ATEX, PED, Machinery, EMC, and Low Voltage.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with experience in conceptual design or FEED phases.
• Must have or be eligible to obtain Secret-level security clearance, be eligible to live and work in the EU, and work on-site in Mol for at least 5 out of every 10 consecutive working days.

Nice to have

• LOPA experience.
• CE marking or conformity-assessment experience.
• Safety certifications such as TÜV or NEBOSH.
