Technical Engineer, Olefins (Chemical Manufacturing)

Salary: $104,900–$178,570 per year, commensurate with experience

INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA produces olefins and polyolefins, including ethylene, polypropylene, butadiene, and high-density polyethylene, across manufacturing sites in North America.

What you will do

• Serve as a technical steward for olefins process technology and evaluate technology changes for safety, reliability, operability, environmental impact, and lifecycle value.
• Develop and review process simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing bases, process control concepts, and safeguard requirements.
• Translate commercial priorities into asset strategies, technology roadmaps, project concepts, and technically supported business cases.
• Identify and implement optimization opportunities involving yield, throughput, energy efficiency, operating cost, and asset profitability.
• Develop capital project scopes, risk-reduction cases, business justifications, implementation strategies, and measurable outcomes.
• Maintain engineering knowledge systems and coach engineers and operations personnel through technical reviews, troubleshooting, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
• Ten or more years of engineering experience in petrochemical, refining, chemical manufacturing, or related industries preferred.
• Experience with continuous process operations, process troubleshooting, and technical problem solving.
• Experience with AspenTech process simulation software.
• Experience applying process safety practices to capital projects, including PHAs, LOPAs, MOCs, PSSRs, design reviews, commissioning, and startup support.
• Experience evaluating process technology changes, design bases, safeguards, relief protection, operability, and lifecycle risk.

Nice to have

• Experience in olefins production, including ethylene, propylene, butadiene, recovery, refrigeration, extractive distillation, reactors, and separation processes.
• Experience supporting capital project development and execution.
