Manual Test Engineer (Azure)

Salary: $110,000–$123,000 per year

What you will do

• Analyze user needs, user stories, technical designs, and business requirements to identify testable functional and cross-functional components.
• Design, maintain, and execute reusable manual test cases, scenarios, test suites, and formal end-to-end test runs in Azure Test Plans.
• Log detailed defects in Azure DevOps with reproducible steps, expected and actual results, environment details, and diagnostic evidence.
• Perform manual web, API, backend, database, functional, regression, integration, smoke, cross-browser, and exploratory testing.
• Validate legacy and modern cloud-native applications, including .NET systems hosted on Microsoft Azure.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, federal system owners, and end users during defect resolution and UAT cycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of professional IT experience, including at least 6 years in functional analysis or software quality assurance testing.
• 5+ years designing, managing, and executing manual test cases and reusable test suites.
• 3+ years using Azure DevOps and Azure Test Plans for test campaigns, defect management, and traceability.
• Experience with browser Developer Tools, RESTful API testing, SQL queries, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and backend data validation.
• 3+ years participating in Agile Scrum ceremonies, with strong analytical, leadership, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal systems, the Department of Transportation, or the Federal Highway Administration.
• Experience testing Azure App Services, Azure SQL Managed Instances, JSON and XML data, and complex ingestion pipelines.
• Experience coordinating UAT with federal users and business owners.
• Understanding of Playwright, Selenium, and automated UI testing concepts.
• Experience using Google Gemini or Notebook AI models to improve work processes and products.
