Lead Software Engineer (Java) (Cloud Platform): Developing and scaling a robust, enterprise-grade document management system on Google Cloud Platform with an accent on cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, and AI-assisted engineering. Focus on refactoring the product for multi-cloud deployment, optimizing code and data structures, and solving complex production issues across a growing user base.
Location: Budapest, Hungary; hybrid work opportunities are available.

What you will do
- Develop complex, cloud-based products for an enterprise-grade document management system.
- Build and scale applications across public and private cloud platforms as the user base grows.
- Refactor the product core to support cloud deployment beyond Google Cloud Platform.
- Optimize code and data structures and troubleshoot distributed production systems.
- Design, review, and improve technical solutions while collaborating with clients and engineering teams in Budapest and remotely.
- Guide AI-assisted development through clear specifications, architecture constraints, testing, code reviews, and incremental verification.
Requirements
- 7–8 years of Java development experience.
- Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Technical leadership skills and the ability to guide engineers and clients through cloud adoption.
- Strong problem-solving, prototyping, technical decision-making, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Good communication skills in Hungarian and English.
- Practical experience with AI coding tools and agentic development workflows, including security, privacy, supply-chain, and cost-risk awareness.
Nice to have
- Google App Engine experience.
- Experience with SQL, Python, Terraform, or Big Data.
- Customer relationship experience.
- Hands-on experience with AI agents, subagents, hooks, or custom MCP servers.
- French language skills.
