TL;DR
Senior Legal Counsel – Data Protection & Privacy (AI/Data Protection): Advising on UK and EU data protection, ePrivacy, AI, cyber and digital regulatory matters while implementing scalable privacy governance across Sky’s business with an accent on complex data, advertising technology and digital product issues. Focus on translating legal requirements into practical guidance, supporting high-risk processing and regulatory matters, and aligning privacy standards across the UK, Ireland and Italy.
Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the Osterley office near London. Right to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

What you will do
- Advise on UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy, AI-related privacy matters and other data protection issues.
- Support complex product launches, commercial initiatives, regulatory matters and high-risk data processing activities.
- Implement scalable data protection governance, including DPIAs, LIAs, data sharing, international transfers and retention controls.
- Partner with the DPO, Data Protection Operations, Cyber, Technology, Data and Commercial teams on policies, controls, incidents and breaches.
- Advise on consent, marketing, advertising technology, digital products, customer preferences and data-driven experiences.
- Support regulatory engagement and cross-market alignment across the UK, Ireland and Italy, while coaching junior colleagues where appropriate.
Requirements
- UK or equivalent qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience in complex UK and EU data protection matters.
- Deep expertise in UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy and related regulatory frameworks.
- Experience advising on content services, advertising technology, audience measurement, marketing technologies, digital products and data-driven customer experiences.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders and providing pragmatic, risk-based guidance on business, technology and AI initiatives.
- Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills, with commercial awareness of data-driven business models.
- Must have the right to work in the UK; does not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
Nice to have
- Experience in media, telecommunications, technology or digital sectors.
- Experience with AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, cyber regulation or complex data-driven use cases.
- Experience in large, matrixed organisations and cross-border data protection matters.
- Experience with content-related privacy issues or governance and transformation programmes.
