Senior Legal Counsel (AI/Data Protection)

Location: London/Osterley, UK; hybrid working with 3 days in the office per week. Applicants must have the appropriate right to work in the UK. hirify.global does not offer visa sponsorship for this position.

What you will do

• Advise on UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy and data protection matters involving customer, workforce and contributor data.
• Assess complex AI, machine learning and data-driven use cases, supporting responsible innovation and readiness for the EU AI Act and emerging cyber regulation.
• Advise on DPIAs, LIAs, data sharing, international transfers, retention, high-risk processing, consent and marketing practices.
• Implement scalable legal governance, policies, controls and practical legal guardrails across business areas.
• Support data incident and breach response, regulatory engagement, investigations, submissions and defensible record-keeping.
• Collaborate with Legal, Data Protection Operations, Cyber, Technology, hirify.global Data, Commercial and local teams in Ireland and Italy.

Requirements

• UK or equivalent qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience advising on complex UK and EU data protection matters.
• Deep expertise in UK GDPR, EU GDPR, ePrivacy and privacy by design principles.
• Proven experience developing legally defensible solutions for AI, machine learning and advanced data use cases.
• Experience advising on content services, advertising technology, audience measurement, marketing technologies, digital products and data-driven customer experiences.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-influencing skills, with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach.
• Appropriate right to work in the UK required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, telecommunications, technology or digital sectors.
• Experience in a large, matrixed organisation or a business operating across multiple markets.
• Familiarity with cross-border data protection, cyber regulation and digital regulation.
• Experience with content-sector data protection, governance frameworks or transformation programmes.
