Principal 1, Embedded Software Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Onsite at the Lake Forest, California office, United States

Salary: $128,350–$166,100 annually

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, and technical direction of complex embedded software solutions.
• Design, develop, integrate, and test computer-controlled electromechanical devices in RTOS environments.
• Guide engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and act as a subject-matter expert on complex technical challenges.
• Make decisions on software architecture, design patterns, engineering strategies, and development processes.
• Debug multithreaded applications, communication peripherals, and component-level hardware integrations.
• Create software requirements, design, test, and risk-management documentation supporting safe, compliant medical products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent directly related experience; alternative experience combinations are accepted.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Fluent English reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded microcontrollers such as STM32, NXP, or similar platforms.
• Experience with RTOS-based and multithreaded applications, embedded software architecture, bootloaders, application code, and device drivers.
• Experience with peripherals and interfaces including SPI, CAN, UART, I2C, Ethernet, ADCs, and DACs, plus embedded debugging and laboratory equipment.
