Staff Software Engineer (Rust & Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Build and own production Rust infrastructure services, including reverse proxies, credential brokers, and distributed log collectors.
• Implement and verify authentication protocols and access control for security-critical code.
• Design infrastructure components, including module boundaries, memory budgets, streaming patterns, and graceful shutdown behavior.
• Develop distributed telemetry and log collection systems with structured tracing, metrics, and health endpoints.
• Guide performance-sensitive design reviews and advise teams on streaming, caching, and systems-level architecture.
• Drive technical direction through design documents, build-versus-buy evaluations, and testing strategies.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years working on performance-critical or security-critical systems.
• Production experience with Rust services, async Rust, multi-crate workspaces, Tokio, and Hyper.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/HTTP networking, memory management, streaming, backpressure, concurrency, and resource constraints.
• Experience with authentication protocols, input validation, adversarial edge cases, and security-sensitive systems.
• Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes, with familiarity with the operator pattern and Helm.
• Experience with property-based testing, integration test harnesses, or fuzz testing; a relevant BSc/MSc or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with S3-compatible storage protocols or request signing such as SigV4.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry, gRPC, log aggregation, or other observability pipelines.
• Experience with reverse proxies, load balancers, service meshes, API gateways, or Kubernetes operators.
• Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, flamegraphs, and P99 latency optimization.
