Staff Engineer (KYC/KYB)

What you will do

• Set the technical direction, architecture, and service contracts for Pro customer verification across KYC and KYB flows.
• Design vendor abstractions, backup paths, timeouts, retries, idempotency, and circuit breakers for third-party verification providers.
• Build fail-closed behavior and audit trails that support security, compliance, and regulatory scrutiny.
• Identify and eliminate recurring classes of failures while improving verification speed, accuracy, automation, and availability.
• Write and drive architecture decision records and enforce security and compliance during system design.
• Mentor senior engineers through design reviews, code contributions, and direct feedback.

Requirements

• Approximately eight years of experience building and operating production systems, including ownership of a domain's technical direction.
• Deep expertise in Rust and the ability to work across TypeScript and React.
• Experience designing distributed systems, service contracts, secure integrations, and architectures that prevent recurring failures.
• Experience in compliance, payments, security, or another domain where incorrect decisions have significant consequences.
• Experience with gRPC, Temporal, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL or MariaDB, Redis, and GitLab CI, or the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Remote work is limited to the countries listed above.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with KYC, KYB, or fraud systems and providers such as Trulioo, Persona, or ComplyAdvantage.
• Experience building systems with AI in the loop.
• Experience in crypto, fintech, or another highly regulated industry.
