Design Lead (Data Centre)

Nscale is building a vertically integrated AI cloud with owned data centres, software, and applications, using sustainable technology solutions.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end design for new-build, expansion, and retrofit data-centre projects across APAC, from concept and detailed design through construction documentation and handover.
• Define technical strategies and standards for electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls, fire/life safety, civil, and structural systems.
• Lead external consultants, architects, engineers, and specialist vendors while managing design quality, schedules, costs, and technical submissions.
• Assess sites, utility capacity, planning constraints, constructability, programme risks, and cost risks with development and commercial teams.
• Support construction, commissioning, operations, design change control, technical due diligence, and customer technical discussions.
• Improve APAC reference designs, engineering governance, value engineering, and lessons learned while mentoring design engineers and project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, or building services engineering, architecture, or equivalent.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in mission-critical facilities, data centres, industrial facilities, semiconductor, healthcare, or other complex infrastructure environments.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary data-centre design from concept through construction and handover.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution, generators, UPS, cooling systems, BMS/EPMS, controls, and fire/life-safety systems.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute, TIA-942, EN 50600, ASHRAE, and relevant local standards.
• Experience managing consultants, design reviews, milestones, budgets, constructability, commissioning, operational readiness, and lifecycle maintenance.
