Senior Compute Network Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within Australia; listed locations include Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania. The role collaborates across time zones with the existing team in Brazil.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and evolve resilient leaf-spine fabrics for GPU, AI, storage, and high-performance compute infrastructure.
• Operate IP fabrics using BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, and ECMP across switches, routers, and data centre interconnects.
• Evaluate and certify network hardware, systems, software, and integration partner solutions.
• Integrate GPU data centres with transport, internet transit, cloud, and external connectivity services.
• Develop network architecture standards, low-level designs, implementation plans, documentation, automation, and monitoring systems.
• Provide technical support and act as the final escalation point for network operations and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Strong background in networking and telecommunications, including IP routing, QoS, MTU, resiliency, and network failure scenarios.
• Practical experience with BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, leaf-spine architecture, and large-scale data centre and MPLS networks.
• Experience writing scripts to automate network tasks.
• Understanding of high-speed Ethernet, optical transceivers, fibre cabling, and data centre cross-connects.
• Ability to investigate faults to identify root causes and work independently in a changing environment.
• Ability to collaborate across time zones with teams in Australia and Brazil.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Perl or Python.
• Experience with Agile environments.
• Understanding of RoCEv2, RDMA, Priority Flow Control, and ECN.
• Familiarity with Linux networking, infrastructure as code, SNMP, and sFlow datasets.
• Interest in analysing network data and trends.
