Senior Security Data Engineer (Vulnerability Risk Management)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Only U.S. persons—citizens, permanent residents, asylees, or refugees—are eligible because the role may involve access to export-controlled technology or data. Non-U.S. persons cannot be sponsored for an export control license.

Salary: $130,800–$209,400 per year. For positions that may be performed in California: $158,193–$182,007.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate ingestion pipelines for asset, vulnerability, finding, remediation, threat intelligence, and business-context data.
• Transform raw evidence into normalized security entities and model-ready features covering ownership, exposure, exploitability, business importance, and remediation state.
• Develop data flows for vulnerability detection, triage, shift-left scanning, owner routing, validation, exceptions, and closure reporting.
• Implement data quality checks, lineage documentation, monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks for critical pipelines.
• Prepare reliable data products for dashboards, risk reporting, operational views, experimentation, and decision support.
• Collaborate with security, engineering, platform, source-system, and downstream teams to improve data contracts and self-service access.

Requirements

• U.S. person eligibility is required because of U.S. export control requirements; visa sponsorship for non-U.S. persons is not available.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, security data engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong production experience with Python and SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, heterogeneous source systems, data modeling, schema evolution, and incremental processing.
• Experience working with incomplete or inconsistent datasets and making pragmatic normalization decisions.
• Experience building data products from source ingestion through reporting, analytics, model inputs, or decision-support outputs.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with medallion, lakehouse, or data-product architecture patterns.
• Experience engineering features for predictive, probabilistic, prioritization, or risk models.
• Experience in regulated biotech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, GxP, SOX, or similar environments.
• Exposure to cybersecurity, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, application security, software supply chain security, or shift-left scanning.
• Familiarity with orchestration, data catalogs, data contracts, business intelligence, observability, and operational reporting.
