Data Operations Engineer

Location: Fort Meade, Maryland, US; customer site attendance required 4–5 days per week

Salary: $137,510–$195,000 per year; $20,000 employee sign-on bonus

What you will do

• Lead daily DataOps activities focused on data availability, reliability, uptime, and delivery speed.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers and translate mission requirements into engineering workflows.
• Oversee deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning of data flows across distributed and cloud environments.
• Drive the transition from reactive data maintenance to proactive, automated, and adaptive operations.
• Implement automated quality gates and schema validation to protect data integrity before production release.
• Coordinate reusable scripts, flow strategies, troubleshooting practices, and technical improvements across the ecosystem.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance are required; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI is required.
• On-site availability in Fort Meade, Maryland, 4–5 days per week is required.
• 9+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a related master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with high-volume data flows, distributed messaging queues, orchestration engines, cloud-native storage, observability platforms, and log analysis.
• Knowledge of network data, metadata fill rates, JSON and XML formats, ETL processes, and SQL-based data validation.
• Ability to use Python or Java for automation and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI clearance.
• Technical account management or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Experience with distributed data processing, cloud-native storage, cyber or network security operations, ABAC, or data masking.
