Senior Manager, Software Engineering (AI/ML)

Location: Sam's Home Office, Bentonville, Arkansas, United States

Salary: $110,000–$220,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and possible regional pay zone compensation.

What you will do

• Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems across multiple teams.
• Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks for scalable and secure development.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle, including DevOps architecture and CI/CD practices.
• Optimize cloud costs and improve automation, telemetry, tooling, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and promote technical quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, track milestones, and deliver complex technical projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field and 5 years of software engineering experience; alternatively, 7 years of relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience leading platform engineering and software development lifecycle execution across multiple teams.
• Expertise in DevOps architecture, CI/CD, cloud financial management, software architecture, and system design.
• Strong stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, project management, and technical decision-making skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Four years of software engineering experience with a master’s degree.
