Packaging Engineer/Continuous Improvement Coordinator

Location: Onsite in Bay City, Michigan, United States; full-time presence at Bay City GPS required. Travel required up to 25% locally as needed.

What you will do

• Provide packaging engineering direction and coordination for plant, launch, and current programs.
• Lead cross-functional projects with supply chain, quality, operations, logistics, controls engineering, and suppliers.
• Develop packaging specifications, testing methods, operational standards, and work methods.
• Analyze operations and implement cost-justified improvements, including density improvements and short-lead-time initiatives.
• Manage container buy-offs, returnable container loops, damaged-container repairs, repacks, sorts, and containment activities.
• Coordinate supplier shipping-label compliance and prioritize projects based on resources, cost, strategy, and timelines.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of packaging engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of workplace safety systems for safe handling, stacking, and storage of containers.
• Strong analytical, written, oral communication, project planning, and prioritization skills.
