Location: Remote roles are available to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, or Washington, D.C. Candidates within commuting distance of the New York, NY or San Francisco, CA offices follow a hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week.
Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annually, plus benefits.

What you will do
- Own accurate, timely, and compliant semi-monthly multistate payroll, payroll tax administration, reconciliations, controls, and financial reporting.
- Administer Rippling, including payroll configuration, employee and tax setup, reporting, integrations, issue resolution, and vendor performance.
- Lead benefits strategy, plan design, renewals, administration, compliance, employee communications, and broker and carrier relationships.
- Administer the 401(k) plan, annual compliance testing, Form 5500 support, and the annual retirement plan audit.
- Oversee multistate leave administration, including documentation, payroll and benefit deductions, disability payments, job protection, and return-to-work requirements.
- Build people analytics dashboards, workforce models, data governance practices, and executive-ready insights in partnership with People and Finance.
Requirements
- At least seven years of progressive experience across multistate payroll, payroll tax, benefits, leave administration, HR systems, people analytics, and People–Finance operations.
- Hands-on experience administering multistate payroll through Rippling, including configuration, tax setup, deductions, reporting, integrations, and complex issue resolution.
- Deep knowledge of multistate payroll tax requirements, benefits compliance, 401(k) administration and audits, leave administration, and workforce cost analysis.
- Advanced people analytics, HR systems, Excel or Google Sheets, dashboarding, data modeling, automation, and data governance skills.
- Strong communication, financial acumen, judgment, organization, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential employee information.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, accounting, analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Certified Payroll Professional certification.
- Experience in professional services, agency, private equity-backed, or distributed organizations.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions, self-funded or level-funded health plans, or payroll, benefits, HRIS, and vendor implementations.
