Materials Research Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite and 1 day working from home.

Annual salary: $122,440–$232,190 USD.

What you will do

• Develop innovative materials, process, device, package, interconnect, circuit, and system solutions for future technology roadmaps.
• Design, simulate, implement, and evaluate scientific research projects using device physics, materials science, chemistry, and process innovations.
• Drive process and equipment research for device miniaturization and high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.
• Develop process solutions across lithography, etch, CVD, PVD, bonding, and CMP fabrication modules.
• Plan and execute experiments across fabrication sites with cross-functional teams and benchmark results against industry standards.
• Develop models and measurements, manage vendor R&D relationships, and mentor academic and industry partners.

Requirements

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Lead- or co-authored research publications in respected peer-reviewed journals or conferences.
• At least 6 months of experience developing or maintaining deposition processes, using multiple metrologies, developing process hardware, or delivering projects in a team environment.
• Working knowledge of standard semiconductor processes and process monitoring and control.
• Experience modifying and controlling film properties, electrical test metrics, or integration schemes.
• Experience automating common tasks within automation systems.

• Demonstrated materials improvements using advanced AI/ML techniques.
• Previous experience running vendor research collaborations.
