TL;DR
Principal Scientist - Tin Management Architect (EUV): Defining the next-generation Tin Management architecture and technology roadmap for EUV lithography light sources with an accent on plasma-generated tin debris, system-level trade-offs, and technology maturation. Focus on shaping experiments, modeling and simulation capabilities, AI/data tools, and cross-functional architectural decisions while solving critical source-development challenges.

Location: San Diego, CA, US. On-site work includes campus activities, clean-room gowning, laboratory experiments, and occasional business travel.

Salary: $171,200–$235,400 base annual salary

What you will do

  • Define and drive the long-term Tin Management architecture and technology roadmap for future EUV light sources.
  • Identify architectural challenges, technology gaps, development priorities, trade-offs, and critical learning needs.
  • Shape experimental strategies and research test-rig campaigns to answer key architectural questions.
  • Define modeling, simulation, AI, and data capabilities for Tin Management decisions and guide their development.
  • Align research, systems engineering, product development, and external stakeholders on future source architectures.
  • Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with experimentation, modeling, technology development, and problem solving for approximately 50% of the role.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in complex physical systems and one or more of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, plasma physics, lasers, photonics, or related technologies.
  • Strong experience with experimentation, modeling, simulation, data-driven decision-making, data analytics, AI/ML, and digital engineering tools.
  • Experience creating multi-year technology roadmaps and aligning technical maturity, cost, integration readiness, and business strategy.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across organizational boundaries and communicate clearly with varied audiences.
  • Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States Export Administration Regulations before starting work.
