Focus on coordinating admissions and discharges, supporting emergency communications, maintaining electronic and paper records, and collaborating with clinical and case management staff.

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon St, Melrose, MA 02176, United States. Full-time, 36 hours weekly, day/evening shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; every third weekend and holiday rotation required.

Salary: $18.81–$23.51 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

  • Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, discharges, bed assignments, bed changes, and bed-cleaning requests.
  • Greet and direct patients, visitors, physicians, hospital personnel, and callers while supporting service standards.
  • Initiate, organize, update, and prepare patient charts and medical records for current, transferred, and discharged patients.
  • Transcribe physician orders and update bed boards, bedside charts, diet information, allergies, patient conditions, and electronic records.
  • Answer and triage calls, relay messages, coordinate outside services and transfers, and support communication during emergencies and electronic downtime.
  • Work with nursing, case management, and social work staff to arrange follow-up appointments and support unit operations, supplies, equipment, and training activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of customer service experience in a healthcare or customer-facing setting is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, written communication, organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, hospital computer systems, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to handle confidential information, work independently, communicate with diverse staff and patients, and lift 10–15 pounds.
