PhD Intern - Data Scientist & Generative AI in Femcare

Location: Winton Hill Business Center, Cincinnati, United States. At least 3 days per week onsite is required.

Salary: $60.57 per hour.

What you will do

• Develop a Gen AI copilot to support technical project direction and problem-solving in the R&D data and modeling ecosystem.
• Use historical consumer-study and simulation datasets to evaluate predictive uncertainty.
• Identify the next study, simulation, or measurement expected to provide the greatest reduction in uncertainty.
• Apply active learning and sequential experimentation to improve the allocation of experimental resources.
• Build a prototype workflow and evaluate active-learning policies against baseline approaches.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Physics, Computational Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience with active learning, sequential experimental design, probabilistic machine learning, Bayesian statistics, surrogate modeling, experimental design, and model evaluation.
• Python is required for model development, simulation, and analysis.
• Available for a 12-week internship from May or early June through August 2027.
• Immigration sponsorship is not available for this role.
• Strong scientific or engineering skills, ownership, self-leadership, collaboration, and the ability to manage complex priorities independently.

Nice to have

• Bayesian optimization, multi-armed bandits, reinforcement learning, or uncertainty quantification.
• Gaussian processes, evidential models, Bayesian neural networks, or ensemble methods.
• Scientific computing and familiarity with CFD or FEA.
• Generative AI or AI-agent prototyping experience.
• Entrepreneurial, startup, or industrial experience.
