Science & Engineering Co-op

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; on-site role

What you will do

• Develop and implement CAD-based projects that improve operational efficiency, on-time delivery, productivity, and scrap reduction.
• Improve process data maturity and apply statistical methods to increase yield and efficiency.
• Support lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, training, and employee involvement.
• Apply manufacturing best practices to improve safety, quality, reliability, and process predictability.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify problems, analyze information, and implement process solutions.
• Assist in directing and controlling processes according to defined policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled as a student and meet university requirements for participation in a co-op program.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., January through June.
• Ability to create CAD designs using software such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Independent, creative, practical, detail-oriented, and able to solve complex problems using a technical background.
• Hands-on work involves safety glasses, nitrile gloves, other protective equipment as required, and possible exposure to metal powders, isopropyl alcohol, and deionized water.
