Senior Software Engineer - Kafka

Salary: up to $160,000 per year, depending on experience

What you will do

• Design and deliver full-stack product features from discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
• Build responsive interfaces and data visualizations with TypeScript and Angular.
• Design and develop Java APIs and backend services, including asynchronous and non-blocking gateway runtime components.
• Build capabilities for configuring and monitoring AI Gateways, MCP tools and servers, agent identity, and agent-to-agent interactions.
• Model and transform operational data into clear, actionable customer-facing insights.
• Contribute to the open-source platform and Enterprise Edition while collaborating with product, design, engineering, and technical leadership.

Requirements

• Significant production experience building and operating full-stack applications, typically five or more years at this level.
• Strong Java experience with maintainable REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong TypeScript and modern component-based frontend development experience.
• Understanding of API design, data modeling, distributed systems, and asynchronous workflows.
• Experience with automated testing, Git-based development, code review, persistent data stores, and search or analytics technologies such as MongoDB, relational databases, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch.
• Hands-on experience using LLMs or AI coding assistants, with the ability to validate and improve generated output.

Nice to have

• Angular or another modern component-based frontend framework.
• Reactive Java technologies such as Vert.x, RxJava, or Netty.
• Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native delivery, API management, API gateways, OpenAPI, or Kafka.
• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, MCP, A2A, tool calling, LLM proxies, RAG systems, or agentic workflows.
• Open-source software or enterprise developer platform experience.
