Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack — QuickBooks Capital & Lending

Salary: $202,500–$274,000 annually, plus potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive significant technical initiatives across APIs, data design, backend services, and frontend experiences.
• Architect and build secure, scalable, cloud-native applications and services.
• Remain hands-on with approximately 70% of the role focused on coding while setting technical direction.
• Lead complex feature design, mentor engineers, and guide a small team through challenging programming and design problems.
• Build and evaluate AI-powered product features and engineering workflows using relevant performance and customer-outcome metrics.
• Champion automated testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, security, accessibility, internationalization, and end-to-end quality.

Requirements

• 8+ years designing and developing online SaaS applications with full-stack expertise.
• Strong Java and/or Kotlin backend experience with Spring Boot or comparable frameworks.
• Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and React frontend experience.
• 5+ years building and consuming web APIs, including REST and ideally gRPC or GraphQL.
• Experience with software architecture, the full development lifecycle, automated testing, TDD, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Technical leadership experience involving design reviews, technical direction, cross-functional communication, and Agile/Scrum delivery.

Nice to have

• Cloud-native development with AWS, microservices, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka, Elasticsearch, and SQL/NoSQL database design.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI or GenAI capabilities such as LLM prompting, retrieval, and model integration.
• Production observability and instrumentation experience, including metrics, logging, and tracing.
• Experience building and growing strong engineering teams and connecting technical decisions to business outcomes.
