Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Denver, United States; hybrid

What you will do

• Design and deliver full-stack features from technical discovery through implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
• Build responsive interfaces and data visualizations with TypeScript and Angular.
• Design and develop Java REST APIs, backend services, data models, and platform integrations.
• Contribute to the core gateway runtime using asynchronous and non-blocking patterns for performance-sensitive code.
• Build capabilities for configuring and observing AI Gateways, MCP tools and servers, agent identity, and agent-to-agent interactions.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and technical leaders through code and design reviews.

Requirements

• Significant production experience building and operating full-stack applications, typically five or more years at this level.
• Strong Java experience with maintainable REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong TypeScript and modern component-based frontend development experience.
• Experience with data-rich interfaces, data modeling, distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and automated testing.
• Experience with MongoDB or relational databases and search or analytics technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Ability to use and critically review LLMs or AI coding assistants in engineering workflows.

Nice to have

• Angular, Vert.x, RxJava, Netty, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native delivery experience.
• Experience with API management, API gateways, OpenAPI, Kafka, OAuth 2.0, or OpenID Connect.
• Experience with MCP, A2A, tool calling, LLM proxies, RAG systems, or agentic workflows.
• Open-source software or enterprise developer platform experience.
