Buyer (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time hybrid role based in Menlo Park, California, United States

Salary: Up to $138,000 USD base salary annually, plus bonus, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Execute production purchasing for assigned suppliers, commodities, and released BOM requirements through receipt and purchase-order closeout.
• Review MRP actions, requisitions, shortages, and production priorities to place, expedite, reschedule, modify, or cancel orders.
• Run RFQs, evaluate quotes, perform cost and price analysis, and negotiate pricing, lead times, MOQs, payment terms, and delivery commitments.
• Manage supplier acknowledgements, promise dates, change orders, partial shipments, delivery tracking, and recovery actions.
• Partner with Planning, Inventory, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Accounting to resolve shortages, engineering changes, quality holds, substitutions, and obsolescence.
• Monitor supplier performance, open commitments, purchase price variance, lead-time risks, and production-critical material availability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience supporting production or manufacturing operations.
• Experience with direct-material procurement, full purchase-order lifecycle management, supplier commitments, and production schedules.
• Working knowledge of BOMs, MRP, lead-time management, inventory, engineering changes, and cost and price analysis.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Excel, plus strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Personnel Security Clearance and required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience purchasing electronic components, mechanical parts, assemblies, fabricated components, or other technical direct materials.
• Background in aerospace, defense, electronics, RF, radar, satellite, space, or high-reliability hardware production.
• Experience with low-volume, high-complexity production, long-lead or allocated materials, supplier recovery, and shortage mitigation.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite, procurement reporting tools, or supply-chain certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or CSCP.
• Experience supporting classified programs or working with suppliers in secure environments.
