TL;DR
Senior Harness Design Engineer I (Spacecraft): Designing and integrating electrical harness systems for spacecraft with an accent on connector and wire selection, wiring diagrams, interface definitions, fabrication documentation, and electrical testing. Focus on interpreting spacecraft electrical architectures, defining acceptance criteria, troubleshooting integration issues, and coordinating with systems, mechanical, and AIT engineering teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite at hirify.global's global headquarters.

Base salary: $124,000–$170,500 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $144,275–$206,175 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Design and develop electrical harness systems for spacecraft, including connectors, backshells, wires, shielding, and routing.
  • Generate wiring diagrams, pinout tables, interface definitions, bills of materials, fabrication drawings, and other harness documentation.
  • Interpret spacecraft system architecture and define electrical interfaces in collaboration with systems engineering.
  • Support harness fabrication, electrical testing, inspection, acceptance criteria, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering and assembly, integration, and test teams to integrate harnesses into spacecraft.
  • Participate in design reviews and perform electrical design and analysis for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of electrical engineering or avionics experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Experience with electrical design, wiring diagrams, interface definition, or electrical system architecture.
  • Eligibility to work on U.S. space technology subject to ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense, satellite development, or satellite operations.
  • Experience with Capital Essentials, NX, Teamcenter, JAMA, or harness design and requirements-management tools.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, signal integrity, grounding, communication systems, and harness standards such as NASA-STD-8739.4 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Experience with continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing, as well as thermal and mechanical harness integration.
