TL;DR
Avionics Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and integrating electrical harnesses for missile and vehicle systems with an accent on manufacturability, high-reliability connectivity, and aerospace wiring standards. Focus on routing and documenting harnesses, selecting materials and connectors, supporting manufacturing and testing, and solving integration challenges across avionics, power, structures, and propulsion.

Location: Torrance, California, or Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States. The role may require access to classified information, restricted U.S. Government sites, systems, or export-controlled information, with applicable citizenship or eligibility requirements.

What you will do

  • Design, route, and document electrical harnesses for missile and vehicle system integration.
  • Generate wiring diagrams, schematics, and harness assembly drawings according to aerospace standards.
  • Select wires, connectors, backshells, shielding, and protection materials for environmental and system requirements.
  • Collaborate with avionics, power, structural, propulsion, and integration teams on vehicle design.
  • Develop harness bills of materials and improve manufacturability, efficiency, and quality at scale.
  • Support harness building, installation, troubleshooting, integration, and testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of cable harness design experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability hardware systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD or ECAD tools such as CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks Electrical, Capital, RapidHarness, or AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace wiring standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739, or MIL-SPEC requirements.
  • Experience with harness manufacturing, assembly, testing, and high-thermal, small-volume environments.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable U.S. Government, security-clearance, citizenship, export-control, or other eligibility requirements if required for the position.
