Senior Mainframe Engineer (Wealth/Trust Services)

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States; four days onsite each week in Wilmington, Delaware, with one work-from-home day

Salary: $97,100–$161,800 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and support high-quality mainframe solutions and batch processes.
• Enhance and support Trust Reporting systems and deliver features across the Wealth Trust platform.
• Work with product owners, architects, and business partners to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Design integrations with internal systems and validate functionality through testing and troubleshooting.
• Monitor workflow execution and operational performance while improving reliability and reducing manual steps.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, documentation, and knowledge sharing while mentoring junior developers.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree with at least 5 years of systems analysis or application development experience, or bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, including COBOL.
• Hands-on experience with JCL/JSCAN, EZTRIEVE, VSAM, TSO/ISPF utilities, CA7, CA AUTOMIC, FILEAID, XPEDITER, and ABEND-AID.
• Strong understanding of batch processing, data flows, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in large-scale environments.
• Availability to work onsite in Wilmington, Delaware, four days per week, with one remote day.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of software engineering experience across development and application support.
• Experience with DevOps or CI/CD pipelines for mainframe workloads, including Git, SonarQube, SonarLint, ADDI, or Ansible.
• Familiarity with IBM zDIH or other mainframe modernization and integration technologies.
• Exposure to cloud integration, API enablement, data virtualization, or financial services and Wealth Trust environments.
