Location: Remote, with approximately 25% travel within Texas; Austin, Texas locality pay applies

Salary: GS-12, Step 1 (Austin, TX locality pay rate)

What you will do

  • Provide comprehensive behavioral health screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, referrals, and care coordination for Texas Military Department service members.
  • Deliver crisis intervention, risk and safety assessments, critical incident counseling, behavioral health education, and command guidance.
  • Maintain detailed electronic health records documenting assessments, treatment plans, and patient progress.
  • Conduct intake evaluations and collaborate with service members, military leadership, licensed providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide ongoing clinical case management and outreach, including fitness-for-duty decisions in consultation with licensed providers.
  • Support behavioral health profile initiation and tracking, SRP/JRSOI activities, and presentations on behavioral and mental health topics.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work and active Texas LCSW certification.
  • Direct patient-care experience and knowledge of behavioral health conditions, treatments, and human behavioral theory.
  • Experience with evidence-based screening tools including PHQ-9, GAD-7, PCL-5, C-SSRS, DAST-10, and AUDIT-C.
  • Experience with military personnel or in a military setting, including knowledge of military and military family life culture and National Guard Bureau behavioral health policy.
  • U.S. citizenship and a valid driver license required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, receive a favorable Tier 1 investigation result, and obtain and maintain a Common Access Card.
