Behavioral Health Care Manager I

Location: Virtual full-time work with required in-person training; candidates must reside within commuting distance of an hirify.global office. Posting locations include Cincinnati, Ohio; Durham, North Carolina; Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Mason, Ohio; and Seven Hills, Ohio. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–8:00 PM, including holidays.

What you will do

• Manage psychiatric and substance use treatment benefits through telephonic and written utilization reviews.
• Assess member needs using clinical screening criteria and professional judgment.
• Determine access to medically necessary, high-quality behavioral healthcare in cost-effective settings.
• Refer cases to peer reviewers when appropriate.
• Coordinate psychiatric and substance use assessments, case planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Support quality member outcomes and effective use of healthcare benefits and community resources.

Requirements

• MA/MS in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field, or a nursing degree, with at least 3 years of relevant facility-based or outpatient psychiatric and substance use treatment experience.
• Current active unrestricted professional licensure, such as RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LBA, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist, as permitted by applicable U.S. state or territory laws.
• For states without a licensure requirement, a BCBA may qualify only for utilization-management approvals and ABA service reviews under licensed staff supervision.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, facilitation, and analytical skills.
• Must be within reasonable commuting distance of a listed office unless an accommodation is granted.

Nice to have

• Crisis call center experience.
• Ohio licensure and independent practice authorization.
• Spanish bilingual skills.
• Case management or utilization management experience with complex psychiatric and substance use cases.
