Senior Field Engineer (AV)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA; local candidates only. Virtual position within the SF Bay Area with frequent customer-site and construction-site work, local travel, and occasional remote travel.

Salary: $54.38–$73.56 per hour

What you will do

• Commission complex audiovisual systems in the field, including testing, fine-tuning, and optimizing audio, video, displays, control, and networking equipment.
• Ensure systems are installed, configured, and operating according to design requirements at customer sites.
• Work with system programmers to load code, troubleshoot control systems, and make simple code and touch-panel updates.
• Diagnose technical issues, formulate solutions, and maintain knowledge of equipment, manufacturers, and firmware updates.
• Lead teams on large projects and coordinate with project managers, engineers, programmers, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor field engineers and provide remote technical support for complex systems and tasks.

Requirements

• Five years of AV Field Engineer experience.
• DSP Q-SYS Level 2 certification.
• Experience with network configuration, deployment, and AVoIP.
• In-depth knowledge of audio, video, control, and network-based systems and equipment.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical problems.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills, good customer service skills, and a valid driver’s license; use of a personal vehicle is required for reimbursed mileage.

Nice to have

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, AV technology, or a related field.
• Field installation and/or system design experience.
