Supplier Quality Engineering Manager

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States; occasional remote work of up to two days per week may be available for roles conducive to remote work. Travel of up to 20% is required, primarily in the US, with some travel to Europe and Asia.

What you will do

• Lead and manage a team of 15–20 supplier quality and cost engineers, along with a limited number of external consultants.
• Develop and deliver industrialized, cost-effective solutions for optical, opto-mechanical, opto-electronic, electronic, mechanical, and mechatronic products.
• Ensure supplier quality, reliability, delivery, cost, and industrialization documentation throughout all product phases and the supplier chain.
• Build supplier quality competences in SPC, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, operational excellence, RCA, 8D, and related methods.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, budgets, project assignments, and competence development.
• Collaborate with design teams, program teams, project managers, technical supplier managers, module architects, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or engineering physics; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, including 5 years managing direct reports in a high-tech development and manufacturing environment.
• Experience with supplier management, cost management, quality improvement, operational excellence, and complex high-tech, low-volume project management.
• Green Belt or Black Belt/Lean Six Sigma experience, including SPC, FMEA, tooling, and 8D.
• Experience working with suppliers on technical and manufacturing process development, including mFLOW, pFMEA, SPC, RCA, and 8D.
• Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations before starting work.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Direct manufacturing experience in optical, electrical, mechanical, or mechatronic systems.
