Financial Controller

Location: Birmingham, England, United Kingdom; hybrid workplace with up to 40% from home.

What you will do

• Own the month-end close and reporting timetable for two Dutch entities in Sage Intacct, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and Prophix uploads.
• Maintain balance-sheet integrity, controls, consolidation inputs, group-GAAP and IFRS alignment, and intercompany balances.
• Coordinate Dutch statutory accounts, corporation tax, transfer pricing, VAT, ICP submissions, statutory audits, and compliance calendars.
• Lead budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, management commentary, financial models, KPI dashboards, and board reporting packs.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, finance colleagues, and non-finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding and decision-making.
• Manage accounting teams in the Netherlands and UK while driving close automation, new financial processes, and the transition of transactional work to Shared Services.

Requirements

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant with significant post-qualification experience in financial control or a similar role.
• Proven experience as a financial controller across multiple or international entities.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, balance-sheet control, consolidation, foreign-entity reporting, and analytical planning.
• Experience with financial systems and tools; Sage Intacct, close automation, and controls experience are preferred.
• Strong MS Excel, communication, presentation, relationship-building, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Experience with SaaS or recurring revenue, Dutch GAAP and tax/VAT, or shared-services centralisation is desirable but not essential.
