Prairie View A&M University, part of the Texas A&M University System, operates the Texas Juvenile Crime Prevention Center.

What you will do

  • Plan, administer, and manage statewide juvenile delinquency prevention programs and related initiatives.
  • Develop program standards, objectives, performance measures, implementation plans, and improvement opportunities.
  • Build partnerships with government agencies, schools, law enforcement agencies, courts, juvenile justice organizations, nonprofits, and community groups.
  • Coordinate outreach, communications, trainings, workshops, meetings, events, and technical assistance.
  • Collaborate with the Research Division on community needs assessments, program data, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage budgets, requisitions, databases, records, statistics, reports, and program staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Four years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications and working knowledge of the relevant agency program.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, maintain attention to detail, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in social work, criminal justice, juvenile justice, public administration, public policy, sociology, psychology, public health, education, or a related field.
  • Experience managing statewide or multi-site programs, preferably in juvenile justice, delinquency prevention, youth development, or community-based programming.
  • Experience with program planning, implementation, assessment, evaluation, research, community needs assessments, or continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing budgets, databases, reports, communications, trainings, events, stakeholder meetings, and community outreach.
  • Familiarity with the Texas juvenile justice system and statewide juvenile delinquency prevention programs.
