Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Platform)

Location: Lowell, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must be U.S. citizens; the role may involve U.S. government work and requires the ability to obtain appropriate security clearance.

Salary: $129,500–$186,100 per year, plus potential performance-based bonus and restricted stock unit awards.

What you will do

• Build and maintain the public and private cloud PaaS layer across infrastructure, networking, and security services.
• Develop software and infrastructure as code using technologies such as Go, Python, Java, Bash, Kubernetes, GKE, GCP, OpenStack, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Own software delivery in a DevOps model, from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and production maintenance.
• Design and operate CI/CD and GitOps automation for Kubernetes-based applications and large-scale cloud deployments.
• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, testing, documentation, and delivery of complex software projects.
• Monitor service health, analyze telemetry, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement measures that improve reliability and prevent recurring incidents.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience and deep expertise in Python or Java.
• At least 1 year of GitOps or DevOps experience, including infrastructure-as-code pipelines or processes supporting large teams.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, public cloud deployment platforms, CI/CD pipeline design, and GitHub.
• Experience leading and delivering large-scale, complex software projects and designing scalable, reliable systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required; existing or previous government security clearance is preferred, and the ability to obtain appropriate clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Actions, Argo CD, GitOps automation, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Advanced knowledge of DNS, traffic routing, canary and blue/green deployments, API gateways, service meshes, TLS/mTLS, and Kubernetes operators.
• Experience building observability and telemetry into software development.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
