Specialist, Direct Procurement - Metal Commodity (Automotive)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, or Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and business travel.

Salary: $90,000–$112,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Identify suitable suppliers for automotive parts and services and participate in pre-sourcing audits.
• Develop metal commodity sourcing strategies and lead sourcing committees through supplier selection.
• Negotiate contracts and nomination agreements while meeting piece-price and tooling targets.
• Manage supplier industrialization during pre-production, ensuring timing, cost, quality, and project requirements.
• Evaluate technical changes and coordinate supplier mass-production readiness with Quality, Engineering, and Logistics.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance using key performance metrics.

Requirements

• 4+ years of purchasing experience developing and executing procurement commodity strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant automotive procurement experience.
• Negotiation experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 direct purchasing.
• Knowledge of metal commodities such as stampings, welded sub-assemblies, exhaust, brakes, suspension, castings, forgings, wheels, steel coils, aluminum coils, fasteners, or related components.
• Experience managing supplier performance and programs, with strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work onsite 4–5 days per week in Charlotte or Novi and travel for in-person company events.
